                                         History

Once upon a time, there was a big house and a large plot of land on the top of a hill…and it was through asking "what should we use this place for?" that the preschool idea came about.
We started in 2004 with a single Grade R class children (from 2-4 years old) of 50 children.
By 2015, we reached 130 children, divided into 7 classes from crèche to Grade 4.

The children from the surrounding valley are the biggest beneficiaries. We provide a good and an affordable education in a safe and fun environment.
We keep our fees low to be able to welcome children from the poorest economical and social background.
The HIV pandemic and the rate of unemployment in the area place some families in a critical situation. We believe that a child’s education should not be affected by outside factors, so we aim to be there for them: we teach, love and care for those who need it the most.
We got our non -profit organization number in February 2011 (087-549 NPO).

Under pressure from the parents, we created a new level each year : Grade 1 in 2011 up to Grade 4 in 2014.

We employ 7 teachers on the site. They are certified as ECD (early childhood development) practitioners.

Two teachers have registered at UNISA to be qualified as primary teachers next year. Teacher training holds a very important place in our vision of the project.

There is still a lot to do, but we are very proud of the work done to turn a simple building into an amazing preschool and low primary school that provides a safe and educative environment to the children from the nearby communities, each and every day.

The teachers are the care givers for many orphans. They are often the only person employed in their large family, and their wages contributes to their own children’s education and well-being.

Our success depends on the quality of the teaching, the small amount of children in our class (25), and our dedication to the goal:  give to the children the best education at an affordable price.

                                  Geography

Our school is located in the Kwazulu Natal, province of South Africa, near a little town called Cato Ridge.
